The Dearborn charges stem from a Nov. 14 incident.

Dearborn police were called to a home on the 22000 block of Cherry Hill around 5 p.m. that day on a report of a home invasion. Residents told police that the home was broken into through a side door, and that jewelry was missing.

According to police, evidence was found at the home that led to two possible suspects.

On Nov. 21, plain clothes officers from Dearborn followed the two suspects, which led them to Garden City. There, police wached as the men attempted to break into one home, were scared off, and then successfully broke into another Garden City home.

Dearborn police then arrested the men and recovered stolen property and a handgun.

Freeman and Peterson, both 21, face a preliminary exam on Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. in the 19th District Court.

Dearborn Chief of Police Ronald Haddad urged the public's assistance in resolving such crimes.

“The community's support is needed to assist in watching over our residents and homes," Haddad said in a statement. "Residents should contact the police immediately if someone appears suspicious or out of place.”
