Snow Emergency Parking

The mayors of both Dearborn and Dearborn Hts should give residents who do not have alternate places to park other than the street, an option to park in a ticket free zone somewhere else in the cities for a day or two, at least until a day after the snow emergency.  Other cities such as Wyandotte do this for their citizens as a courtesy.  Since it does not cost anything, why can't Dearborn and Dearborn Hts offer our residents the same courtesy?  Do we really need the extra parking ticket income?    What free zones?  The parking lots adjacent to the city halls, the parks, the parking areas for the recreation centers, all areas that are low on the priority list during a snow emergency, right?   Sure, there will always be the procrastinators that will get tickets anyway, but for those truly in need of a place to temporarily park, during a snow emergency, wanting to get their car off the street to help the plows clear the snow, using those locations, at no cost to the cities, seems the least the cities can offer in return.

If you agree, show up at the city council meeting Tuesday night at 7:30 (Jan 28) and make your feelings known.  After all , they are politicians, not mind readers, and need  our input and guidance occasionally to do the right thing, right?
