Medicaid Republican Constituency

I've spent  a lot of time in the Lexington, Croswell and Sanilac areas of Michigan. Two notable things about the area- people are staunchly Republican, and there is an underground economy, with many small part time jobs paid under the table, or with bartering of services and trading of materials. No taxes are paid and no deductions made for social security. Because they don not have the financial means to pay for heath care, they rely on that other socialist program Medicaid. Interacting with and listening to conversations of men in their thirties and forties, they long for the day they can draw social security. Unlike people who work jobs were taxes and social security deductions are made, these folks pay no taxes and make no contributions to  the socialistic program social security. People earn their social security by putting money into it. These folks don't, and yet expect to draw from it; they treat this socialistic program as an "entitlement".  Now their whole reliance on Medicaid is threatened by the very Republicans in the state legislature they support. Poetic Justice may be the fitting term for people who do not have a clue what side their bread is buttered on.   P3
