MEA Right-To-Work Violations
Michigan recently passed a
Right-To-Work law that states you have a choice to belong in a union, or not. The MEA (Michigan Educational Association-a teacher's union) is apparently making it difficult for teachers to exercise those rights. Read more about it here.

Now that money is not automatically deducted from a paycheck and given to the union, unions must do more to keep the income stream flowing to the union coffers. Do you feel it is fair for the union to place unpaid union dues in 'collection' when you have the right not to pay, not to belong? The law states you can leave anytime, and join anytime, so why is the MEA putting pressure on this teacher?? Does a union do a better job than 'Call Sam' to resolve disputes in the workplace? Why can't this teacher leave the union if she wants to, and, if she can, then why the need of a lawsuit?? Your thoughts?
