LA TRAVIATA

Friends of the Opera of Michigan and the City of Dearborn present Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 8:00 PM. at the Michael Guido Theater.

Soloists for the opera are: Karin White, soprano, in the role of Violetta, Annie Klark, soprano, in the role of Annina,  Carlos Seise, tenor, in the role of Alfredo,  Len Poma, tenor, in the role of Giuseppe, Claude Grant, tenor, in the role of the Doctor,  Quinto Milito, baritone, in the role of Giorgio Germont and Jacqueline Csurgai Schmnitt, piano. This performance of La Traviata will be concert style, with partial staging and piano.

Quinto Milito, a Livonia resident, is a man of many talents. He is a well-known baritone soloist, composer and the artistic director of Friends of the Opera of Michigan.  Mr. Milito will be singing the role of Giorgio Germont in the upcoming production of La Traviata at the Ford performing arts center and also in Canada.
Mr. Milito graduated with honors from the prestigious Gioacchino Rossini Conservatory of Music.  He was a two-time winner of the Metropolitan Opera Regional Audition and made his debut at the Spoleto Festival in Italy.
Mr. Milito sings in Europe and throughout the United States and is often known as the true "Verdi Baritone". He has appeared with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and has performed under the direction of renowned international conductors such as Rafael De Burgos, Thomas Schippers, Paul Freeman, Marcello Abbado and Leslie Dunner.  He recorded live from Orchestra Hall in Detroit in the Three Baritones.

Karin White, an Ann Arbor resident, is a soprano soloist who is well-known to the opera stage and concert halls across the mid-west. She will sing the role of Violetta in La Traviata in the U.S. and Canada. White recently performed as the soprano soloist in an “Evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein Favorites” with musicians from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.  Karin sings regularly with the Michigan Opera Theater. This fall she will be featured by the Kreft Concert Series at Concordia University. In 2014 she has been invited to sing two concerts for the Naples (FL) Italian Cultural Society and another concert with the Naples Opera Society. Karin is an adjunct professor at Concordia University and maintains a private voice studio in Ann Arbor.
La Traviata is the story of doomed love in 1840's Paris. 

The opera will be performed at the Michael A. Guido Theater in the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center of Dearborn. The theater is located at 15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI 48126.
