Riad Shatila, Owner of Popular Dearborn Bakery, Remembered for Kindness

The longtime Dearborn entrepreneur died following a battle with cancer on Sept. 6.

Riad Shatila, the owner of Shatila Bakery & Cafe in Dearborn, died on Sept. 6 after a long battle with cancer.

The bakery, located at 14300 W. Warren Ave., is known for its wide selection of pastries and baklava.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at the Islamic Center of America. Condolences can be offered 4-8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at 7865 Oakman Blvd. in Dearborn.

A public commemoration service will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Islamic Center of America, 19500 Ford Road in Dearborn.

Shatila is survived by his wife, Zeinat Shatila, and children Nada, Tanya and Batoul.
