Former Players Guild of Dearborn Governor Lois Rinn Dies at 92

Rinn, a longtime board member of the Guild, had a love for local theater and the community.

Lois Keim Rinn, a longtime supporter of the local arts scene and a member of the , died Saturday, July 2. She was 92.

Funeral services will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. at the . A luncheon will immediately follow.

Rinn, a Dearborn resident, was born on August 26, 1918.

She is most remembered by Dearborn residents as one of many longtime supporters of the Dearborn Player Guild, of which she was a board member, a governor and an honorary member during the past several decades.

“She loved the theater, and she was such a wonderful lady,” said Diana Reynolds, who served with Rinn on the Guild board.

“She served as a governor; she made a huge contribution to the Guild,” added Reynolds, who said Rinn was a spry as ever during a visit recently.

Apparently, Rinn also had an adventurous side.

“Someone organized a white water rafting trip, and she didn’t go,” said Reynolds. “But when it came around again, she said she wasn’t going to miss it. So at 72, she went white water rafting.”

Additionally, Rinn was active in the United Methodist Choir and Stephen’s Ministry, and was a resident at .

Rinn was married to the late William Rinn for 68 years. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Angel (Philip), Henry (Sharon), Sharon Newburg-Rinn (Steven), William E. (Barbara), Susan Scharfenkamp (James), John (Dawn) and Christine, and 12 grandchildren. She is the sister of Ernestine Bintz.

The First United Methodist Church is located at 22124 Garrison Street in Dearborn. Interment will take place at Ridgeway Cemetery.
