Oakwood, Vibra healthcare partnership provides long-term care answers
A hospital stay, by definition, is never easy.
We at Oakwood do the best we can to make patients comfortable and offer them world-class care. But we understand people have come to us because they’re sick, not because they don’t have anything better to do.
“When can I go home?” is one of the trickiest questions we’re asked. We don’t want to discharge patients too early – that wouldn’t be responsible medicine. But we don’t want to keep patients too long, either.

The answer: get patients out of the hospital and if they still need care, assign them to our new long-term acute care hospital within a hospital. It’s a 40-bed hospital on the second floor of Oakwood Hospital – Taylor, occupying more than 17,000 square feet.
The whole purpose of the new Vibra Hospital of Southeastern Michigan – Taylor Campus is to tend to patients with acute issues who don’t need all the seeming rigmarole of a full-on hospital stay, yet still require more care than can be provided outside a hospital setting.

In many cases, the Vibra Hospital is a godsend. There are lots of cases where the family of a patient wonders, “How in the world are we going to tend for Dad when he’s out of the hospital?”
Vibra Hospital takes worry out of the equation. This facility, a joint venture between Vibra Healthcare and Oakwood, has a staff of 160 medical professionals, full-time physician coverage, its own pharmacy, specialized procedure rooms and even easy access to visitor parking.
Long-term acute care can make the difference in areas such as increased survival rates for patients with multiple traumas and life threatening acute and chronic illnesses. Picture this: A family member recovering nicely in a properly staffed state-of-the-art facility, rather than moving a hospital bed into your living room, where you become the well-intentioned but clueless staff.
Keep Vibra Hospital in mind. You never know when you might need it, but it’s good to know that it’s available, isn’t it?
