Dearborn Resident Makes Final Five on ‘Big Brother’

Dan Gheesling has one-in-five shot at winning $500,000 in the CBS reality show.

Dan Gheesling, a resident of Dearborn and assistant football coach at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, now has a one-in-five shot at the $500,000 prize on the CBS reality show Big Brother.

During a special double eviction episode Thursday night, Gheesling won the Head of Household competition, making him immune from being booted out of the house during that round of competition.

As part of his HoH status, Gheesling nominated contestants Ian Terry and Joe Arvin for eviction from the game. During the night’s Veto competition, Terry won the ability to remove himself from the nomination block, leaving Gheesling to nominate his ally and former teammate Danielle Murphree.

Ultimately, the remaining houseguests voted Arvin out of the house by a vote of 3-0.

To remain in the game, Gheesling will have to make it past three more rounds of competition. Gheesling, a former winner of Big Brother in 2008, and coaching Murphree and two other contestants who were previously evicted.

However when offered the chance to give up coaching and play for the $500,000 prize against everyone else, he took the chance.

Big Brother will next be on CBS Sunday at 8 p.m.

Drestyl - your the one that got me into watching this and I must say that Dan is giving the city and Devine Child a lot of publicity (if anyone knows where Dearborn is). He started out as a nice guy but now is a complete jerk.

Nice guys finish last in this competition. It's a game of strategy and he is playing it well.
Donna Hay September 8, 2012 at 02:16 pm
He won last time being a nice guy. Something wrong when he promised on his wife and his wedding ring that he was telling the truth.
Drestyl September 9, 2012 at 12:46 pm
He is doing and saying anything to win himself and his family 500K. I know it's not like him to lie, but he told his wife and family before he left that he will do what he has too to win. He an apologize and ask forgiveness when e returns a wealthier young man. TEAM DAN!!!

Drestyl, what your saying is that Dan and his family think it is okay to lie and cheat, swear on the bible and your wife's life for the almighty dollar. When he coaches and tells the kids do what ever it takes to win, lie and cheat, just don't get caught at it. Good role model. Oh a his wife mentors young women with problems goes to church to pray for Dan. Is she praying for his lying sole or praying for the cash.

It's a GAME.

It is amazing how low a person will go to win money. I am glad this man is not teaching my children. I feel sorry for the children that are Influenced by Dan's values. If Dan was my son I would be ashamed.

Way too much for a college having financial problems.

Hasn't even worked one day? Not one day in 15 years? Really? Not even credit for one day? When IRead More worked at the Press & Guide (which eliminated my position in a budget restructuring that has continued under various corporate owners at the P&G for a decade and a half, resulting in them moving their offices to Southgate and more recently just out-and-out eliminating their editor, sports editor and photographer) we had a policy of no anonymous letters to the editor. This was done because, while everyone has the right to express their opinion, putting a real name with an opinion meant people displayed more decorum and, well, less cowardice than is allowed in online comments from the shadows. Joseph, the benefit of post-employment health care after just eight years of service may have, in the early 1990s, been more acceptable in some way I can't figure (retention of key department heads has been cited as a reason, as was that it apparently mirrored a benefit for state officials), but it clearly was part of the excesses of Wayne County that was unjustifiable and unsustainable in the 2000s. This practice was ended two years ago by a resolution I introduced.

Yeah, unless the drinking trough is filled with taxpayer water.

Joseph, Are you bordering upon slander? Is this the reason for no more info? I hope you are not.Read More Perhaps you are picking up on some nasty rumors and repeating them here. You should know better than to do that. So, if you have real proof, tell it like it is and don't hedge. What you are saying in your post is dangerous to you and those who you are referring to, so, as the saying goes...put up or shut up.

Whether or not the facts of this opinion piece are true, I thoroughly believe Robert McNamara wasRead More the personal trainer for Kwame Kilpatrick. McNamera would have been spending a lot of time in prison if he didn't die. Ficano is a joke in my estimation. I know no one who wants him to remain in office. With today's survellience techniques and high tech gadgets, politicians can no longer get away with what they did in the past.
