Dearborn Homecoming 2012: Saturday Schedule

Fireworks, food, friends and more will be abounding at this annual summer event in Dearborn.

Saturday's lineup for the 2012 Dearborn Homecoming is much fuller than Friday, with highlights including a children's fishing derby, a pie-eating contest and a performance by the well known funk band that will be followed by fireworks at .

Saturday, Aug. 4

  • 11 a.m. Carnival opens 
  • 11 a.m. Food Court and Civic Tent Open
  • All Day High School Reunion Picnics: Dearborn, Edsel Ford and Sacred Heart High Schools
  • 8-11 a.m. Children’s Fishing Derby
  • 9 a.m.-9 p.m.  Hype Athletics Youth All-Star Games
  • 11 a.m.-Noon  Marshmallow Throwing Contest 
  • 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Art Area 
  • 11 a.m.-7 p.m.  University of Michigan-Dearborn Activity Tent
  • Noon – 1 p.m. Balloon Blowing Contest
  • Noon – 1 p.m. Players Guild 
  • Noon-5 p.m. Free Children’s Games 
  • Noon-8 p.m. Free Giant Fun Inflatables 
  • 1-2 p.m. Gordon Russ Fun Family Magic Show 
  • 1-2:30 p.m. Apple Sauce Slurp Contest
  • 1-4 p.m.  Going Green Foundation’s Green Alternatives for Daily Living 
  • 1-6 p.m. Jack the Balloon Man
  • 1-6 p.m. Tom Bartholomew’s Very Tall Entertainment
  • 3-4 p.m. Mustard’s Retreat
  • 3-4 p.m. Kick the Shoe Contest 
  • 4-5:30 p.m. Hula Hoop Contest
  • 4-7 p.m. Camp Dearborn Youth Counselors Reunion Picnic
  • 5-6 p.m. Barry Brickey
  • 6-7 p.m. Pie Eating Contest
  • 6-8 p.m. Bomb Squad
  • 8:30-10 p.m. War, the feel-good funk band known for their hits “Low Rider” and “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” will perform.
  • 10 p.m. Fireworks show
  • 10:30 p.m. Carnival closes
  • 11 p.m. Good Court and Civic Tent close
