At the Guild

A continuing blog about activities at the Players Guild of Dearborn.

There's a lot happening at the Players Guild of Dearborn.

Monday and Tuesday the Guild was crawling with Guildlings, the youth arm of the Guild. Auditions were being held for their summer production of Born in a Trunk.

The show will be in the revue format. It will be performed July 19th thru the 21st, 2013, for four performances only at the Henry Ford Centennial Library Theatre. The production will begin rehearsals in early June at the Dearborn Congregational Church on Rotunda. This production is being rehearsed at the church and performed at the Library’s Theatre due to the Players Guild of Dearborn’s planned summer building renovations

The production is being directed by Valerie Haas with musical direction provided by Julie Smyth Malloy and choreography provided by Suzy Greimel. Greg Viscomi, Jeff Bartos, and Tim Carney will be serving as the show’s producers. For more information, please feel free to contact Greg Viscomi at gpviscomi@aol.com

About 40 Guildings, ages 5 to 18 auditioned. Music Director Julie Malloy put the kids through their musical paces singing "There's No Business Like Show Business" and "Let Me Entertain You." Choreographer Suzy Greimel had them dancing in the Clubroom.

The cast for Born in a Trunk will be posted as soon as it's finalized.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday a crew from Ann Arbor Fire Protection delivered 200 feet of black iron pipe to the Guild. The pipe is for the upgrade to the building's fire suppression system being installed in the auditorium. The pipe had to be loaded into the attic through a vent in the ceiling of the auditorium as the pieces were too long to make the turn at the top of the stairs necessary to get into the light deck.

The Marketing Committee met Tuesday evening and reviewed their list of updates for the Guild's website. They also discussed the Guild's FaceBook and Twitter activities and looked to  the 2013-2014 year for a merging of the Marketing and Publicity Committees.

Also on Tuesday, word was received that the Guild had been given preliminary approval of a loan to finance the summer renovation activities. Details will be forthcoming as they are finalized.
