AT THE GUILD - Hell Week for DROOD Continues

Hell Week for the Players Guild of Dearborn production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood continued with a run-through last evening, Monday, November 4. There were lots of high points and a few glitches. That's what Hell Week is all about. Nail down the good stuff. Fix the problems.

For the first time since the production of Chicago in the 2003-2004 season, the orchestra will be on a platform above and behind the actors. The platform is made of scaffolding. It is six feet wide, 24 feet long, and eight feet high. It is the equivalent of adding a 12'x12' room to the area of the stage. It facilitates the movement of set pieces in the wings and puts the singers in front of the instruments. Onward and Upward!!

Some new lighting instruments are being used in the show. These instruments can be aimed, focused, and otherwise controlled from the light deck. This makes it possible, for example, to have multiple "specials" with a single instrument making more dramatic lighting possible. Onward and Upward!

Hell Week continues with another run-through tonight. "One week. Will it ever be right?"
