Maple Sugaring at Indian Springs Metropark. March is Maple Sugaring month! With Spring not too far off, the warm days and freezing nights encourage sap flow in maple trees. This is the ideal time to collect the sugary sap and boil it down into maple syrup.

Planetarium: Cosmic Colors at Michigan Natural History Museum. Journey across the entire electro-magnetic spectrum and discover the many reasons for color: Why is the sky blue and Mars red? Take a tour within a plant leaf, inside the human eye, and to a black hole. See the actual color of a dinosaur.

SSSSSSSSnakes!: A Hands-On Demonstration at Michigan Natural History Museum. Come explore the world of snakes. We’ll take a look at snake skin, hear like a snake, and use museum specimens to learn more. Together we’ll learn about Sanajeh, the 11-foot snake that lived during the Cretaceous period and ate baby dinosaurs.

Young Stargazers Sky Journey at Cranbrook Institute of Science. Make the sky turn dark and sprinkle the sky with stars! The setting is complete as you embark on an exciting and educational journey through the night sky and the planets.

Tadpoles at Oakwoods Metropark. Children, ages 2 to 5, can have fun with Ms. Jennifer, experiencing nature, playing games, making crafts and more. Fee: $4 per child. Preregistration required. For more information or to register, call 734-782-3956.

Planetarium: The Cowboy Astronomer at Michigan Natural History Museum. We’re in the Western outdoors, listening to star legends and cowboy tales around the campfire. Our cowboy astronomer gives us his perspective of the night sky, and the things he’s found out over a lifetime of stargazing.
