The MOMS Club of Dearborn, a support group for stay-at-home and part-time working moms in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, is hosting a Halloween themed open house event from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 17.

The event will be held at the Caroline Kennedy Library at 24590 George Ave. in Dearborn Heights.

The open house is an opportunity not only to celebrate the fun of the Halloween season, but also for moms in the community to come learn about the MOMS Club and its activities. Children of all ages are welcome and are encouraged to come in costume to enjoy games, crafts and prizes.

The MOMS Club of Dearborn has a regular schedule of events including weekly meet-ups at area kid-friendly locations, park dates and play groups, monthly general meetings on the second Tuesday of each month, a monthly "Mom's Night Out" and occasional service projects within the community.

The club also has a helping hands committee for moms who need assistance with meals when a new baby arrives or a family emergency occurs. Members also plan to add an optional babysitting co-op and occasional events for the entire family.

The MOMS Club of Dearborn is a branch of an international support group for at-home moms founded in California in 1983. There are now more than 1,500 chapters in the United States, including the one serving Dearborn and Dearborn Heights.

“The MOMS Club has been such a wonderful way to interact with other area moms,” said membership vice president Robyn Mazza. “When my family moved back to Dearborn after many years away, I was looking to meet other moms with children my son’s age, and what I found were really great friends for both of us.”

The MOMS Club allows children at all of their events. Even though it was originally founded as a resource for moms, the club also provides opportunities for children to socialize with other kids.

To attend the MOMS Club open house, stop by the Caroline Kennedy Library on Oct. 17, between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
