The first baby born at Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center in 2014 came a little bit earlier than expected.
Mariejayne Adalyne Elendt was born at 12:52 a.m. on Jan. 1, weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 21 inches long.
She was an early gift to her parents, Tammy Jones and Zachary Elendt, of Taylor. Her due date was Jan. 3.
“We had a c-section scheduled for this coming Friday,” said Jones. “But Mariejayne had plans of her own and decided to come early.”
Mariejayne is the couples’ first baby.
“I just can’t believe I’m holding her and she’s really here on the first day of the year. It’s amazing,” said Jones.
