Dan Gheesling, a resident of Dearborn and assistant football coach at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, now has a one-in-five shot at the $500,000 prize on the CBS reality show Big Brother.
During a special double eviction episode Thursday night, Gheesling won the Head of Household competition, making him immune from being booted out of the house during that round of competition.
As part of his HoH status, Gheesling nominated contestants Ian Terry and Joe Arvin for eviction from the game. During the night’s Veto competition, Terry won the ability to remove himself from the nomination block, leaving Gheesling to nominate his ally and former teammate Danielle Murphree.
Ultimately, the remaining houseguests voted Arvin out of the house by a vote of 3-0.
To remain in the game, Gheesling will have to make it past three more rounds of competition. Gheesling, a former winner of Big Brother in 2008, and coaching Murphree and two other contestants who were previously evicted.
However when offered the chance to give up coaching and play for the $500,000 prize against everyone else, he took the chance.
Big Brother will next be on CBS Sunday at 8 p.m.
