Dearborn Retirement Community Opens Doors for Public Barbecues

The barbecues at Oakwood Common will continue into the fall as weather permits.

For those who enjoy good barbecue, invites the public to join residents for its community barbecue held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Wednesday on its Bistro patio.

Oakwood Common is located at 16351 Rotunda Drive in Dearborn.

The barbecues will include an array of popular picnic foods like hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, and brats, as well as chips, pop and watermelon.

The weekly barbecues are scheduled to continue throughout the summer and early fall season as weather permits.

“People who visit our campus for the first time quickly realize that we’re a hidden jewel in the middle of Dearborn,” said Mary Granata, Oakwood Common’s director of sales. “The community barbecues give us a chance to share it with others.”
