Fashion for Jobs: Goodwill Industries Partners with Detroit Area Stylists for Unique Show

Apparel from Goodwill's Dearborn store will be featured in a spring fashion show on April 27 to support job education and placement programs for metro Detroit residents.

Models of all ages will showcase spring fashions from the Goodwill resale store in Dearborn on April 27, from 11 a.m. to noon.

The Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit spring fashion show will feature local models showcasing outfits consisting of new and gently used items donated to the store.

Partnering with Goodwill and serving as emcees of the fashion show are “Thrifty Broads” TaNisha Prater and Tisha Prater. The “Thrifty Broads” host a web series focused on looking fabulous for less by shopping exclusively at resale, consignment and thrift shops.

Colour By Numbr fashion blogger and stylist Kori Fields is also lending her talents to the show by styling outfits for the models. She currently serves as fashion editor of Edge Magazine and contributor to Ambassador magazine.

Christy Kondogiani, interior designer and former contributor to HGTV’s “Cash and Cari,” and Inez Parker, blogger for Style Chic 360 will lend their expertise to the show, and Spectrum Entertainment will provide the musical backdrop for the afternoon of fashion.

After the show, ready-to-wear racks from Thrifty Broads, styled by Kori Fields, will be available for Goodwill shoppers to browse and purchase.

Fashion show attendees will also receive a coupon for 20 percent off their purchase in store on April 27.

Goodwill’s spring fashion show supports Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit's job education, training and placement programs that help unemployed Metro Detroit residents find work.

Since its opening in September 2012, the Dearborn store has created 25 jobs and training opportunities that allow participants in Goodwill programs to gain real-world experience as they work to earn permanent positions at the store, or with one of Goodwill’s more than 700 partner employers around Southeast Michigan.
