Home for the Holidays

Help a kitten or cat find a new home this holiday season! This festive adoption event will introduce attendees to many of the Dearborn Animal Shelter's wonderful adoptable cats (and a few dogs, too!).

Stop by the Friends Training Center, which is adjacent to Pet Supplies Plus, and you may just find the perfect Christmas present for your family - a new furry best friend.

In this two day window, cat adoption fees will be reduced to $5 per cat (4 months and older) and kittens will be $40 for the first kitten and only $10 more to add a second kitten.

“The cat and kitten population in the Shelter has remained much higher than usual this year and we are seeking every possible option to match them with loving homes,” said Elaine Greene, executive director of the shelter.

The shelter’s local endeavor this weekend is also part of a nationwide effort to help encourage homeless cat adoptions this time of year.  It is in conjunction with the Best Friends Animal Society and features $5 felines. The reduced kitten special is a local addition.

“Kittens are great playmates for one another, so we hope to encourage people to consider a pair this weekend," Greene added. "Besides, they’re small. Take two, please!”

The adoption event also runs 12-8 p.m. on Saturday.
