"IN FROM THE COLD" Fine Art Exhibition, Detroit Society of Women Painters & Sculptors

“In From The Cold”, a juried exhibition of recent works by members of the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, opens Friday, January 24 at the Alfred Berkowitz Gallery. Eighty-one pieces were selected for this show by juror Joseph Marks, who is also curator of the Berkowitz Gallery.  Works in diverse styles are featured;  included are paintings, drawings, collage, sculpture and mixed media pieces.

Founded in 1903, in reaction to the then new Scarab Club’s exclusion of women artists, the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors is one of the longest enduring women’s organizations of visual artists in the United States.  Its current membership of approximately 150 is drawn from all over southeastern Michigan and beyond.

The Alfred Berkowitz Gallery is located on the third floor of the Mardigian Library, University of Michigan’s Dearborn campus. The reception time is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Call the gallery at 313-593-3592 for details.
