Great Outdoors Youth Jamboree

On Sunday, September 8th, make plans to attend Michigan’s biggest child-focused outdoor-rama at Lake Hudson State Recreation Area in Clayton – The Great Outdoors Youth Jamboree.  Kids and their families will be able to participate in any and all facets of outdoor activities and recreation such as shooting sports, birding, and fishing, just to name a few, from 10 am to 5 pm.  Over 30 vendors will be providing hands-on experience on stand up paddleboards, building birdhouses, tomahawk throwing and setting up a campsite.  This is all being offered for free to encourage participation in Michigan’s outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities.

Door prizes will be given out throughout the day and special activities on the stage such as duck calling and raptor education will be taking place.  A food vendor will be on-site but you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it at the park.  You may also want to bring sunscreen, bug spray and plenty of water as it may take you most of the day to get through everything.

The Great Outdoors Youth Jamboree is brought to you through a collaboration of Pheasants Forever, the Michigan DNR, the Michigan Pheasants Restorative Initiative and Cabela’s.  For an event flyer or additional details, please visit:  www.michiganpheasantsforever.org/youth.  If your child has completed their hunter safety course and would like to take part in a live chukar hunt, please contact mbrunken@pheasantsforever.org.  A Recreation Passport is required for park entry.
