What's Causing Black Smoke in Dearborn?

A commercial building fire on Detroit's southwest side caused a massive cloud of black smoke to form in the air above Dearborn on Thursday.

The origin of a black smoke cloud hovering in the sky near west Dearborn on Thursday afternoon was caused by a fire at a commercial building in Detroit.

Detroit Fire Department and HAZMAT teams were dispatched to the fire on the city's southwest side around 3:50 p.m.

The building is located near Pittsburgh and Martin streets north of I-94. Police are detouring traffic from the area and have shut down Wagner Street.
