What's Open in Dearborn During the Holidays?

A look at store, city and movie theater hours in Dearborn over the holidays.

So, it's Christmas–but the world doesn't stop just because it's a holiday. You have errands to run, calories to work off and sugar-filled children to entertain.

Here's a look at what's open and what's closed over the holidays in Dearborn.

Dearborn Public Schools

Schools is out from Saturday, Dec. 22, through Sunday, Jan. 6. Classes will resume for all schools and all grades on Monday, Jan. 7.

City services

City offices—including Dearborn City Hall, the 19th District Court and all libraries—are closed Dec. 24-25, as well as Dec. 31-Jan. 1. Offices will keep normal 8 a.m.-5 p.m. hours on all other days.

Trash collection will be on a normal schedule for the Monday of Christmas Eve, but delayed the rest of the week. Tuesday’s trash pick up will be on Wednesday. The pattern will continue through the rest of the week.

Trash collection will be on a normal schedule for Monday, Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve. It will be delayed a day starting on New Year’s Day, which is Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Post offices

All post offices are open normal business hours during the week, from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m., as well as 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays.

Ford Community and Performing Arts Center

The Center will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, but will reopen for normal hours on Wednesday, Dec. 26. The Center will be open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 31, as well as 10-6 p.m. Jan. 1 so that you can start working off those holiday pounds immediately.

However, no aerobics classes will take place those days.

Dearborn Ice Skating Center

The DISC is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but will be oepn for public skating on New Year's Eve from 4-6 p.m.

Call the DISC at 313-943-4098 for more information about open skating hours during the holidays.

Skating fees are $4 for Dearborn residents, $5 for non-residents and $2 for seniors and children under $5. Skate rentals are $3.

Fairlane Town Center

For your last-minute holiday shopping, Fairlane Mall is open Dec. 24 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will be closed on Christmas Day.

Mall hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 26-29; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Dec. 30; and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

AMC Fairlane

The AMC Star Fairlane theater will have reduced showtimes on Christmas Day. Shows begin as early as 10 a.m. and start as late as 8 p.m., with showings of such films as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Wreck It Ralph, Les Miserables, Django Unchained, and Monsters, Inc: 3D.
