Weekend Planner: Pumpkin Patches, Black Ties and Tails, Health Screenings

Halloween is ramping up, and there are numerous spooky events to attend. Plus, fall weather is definitely here, along with all the cool-weather activities that make autumn so much fun. Here are some things to consider as you plan your weekend activities:

1.

Where/When: 7 p.m.-12 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at .

Why Go: The Dearborn Animal Shelter fundraiser is a dinner and auction, complete with a Green Carpet Paws Promenade of adoptable dogs and cats, a champagne reception, hors d'oeuvres, open bar, formal seated dinner and entertainment. As much as possible, food served will be from local farmers and leftover food from the event will be donated to Forgotten Harvest.

Pricing: $175 per person

2. HALLOWE'EN AT GREENFIELD VILLAGE

Where/When: , 6:30-9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 6:30-8 p.m. Sundays Oct. 14-30.

Why Go: This do-not-miss event of the season gives visitors the chance to see the village all decked out for Halloween, with costumed characters, jack-o-lanterns galore and activities for the whole family.

Pricing: $12.75-15

3. DEARBORN FIREFIGHTER PUMPKIN PATCH

Where/When: , 12-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 22-23.

Why Go: Dearborn Firefighter Pumpkin Patch will be open for you to find your great pumpkin. Donations will be accepted for the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive.

Pricing: Free, with donations accepted

Where/When: , Saturday, Oct. 22, 4-7 p.m.

Why Go: Families will enjoy this un-spooky event featuring trick-or-treating in the museum galleries, autumn-themed crafts, games and stories, kid karaoke  and a kids lunch. Raffle prizes include a flat-screen TV. All children must have a parent for this event. No museum ticket purchase required.

Pricing: $8 at the door, $7 in advance

5. FREE HEALTH SERVICES

Where/When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the ACCESS Community Health Center 6450 Maple St, Dearborn.

Why Go: and the Health Alliance Plan of Michigan (HAP) are partnering today to offer free health services for adults and children. A number of health screenings will be offered.

Where/When: 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, , 22100 Michigan Ave.

Why Go: Pick up some great fall produce and see what the vendors have to offer.

Where/When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.  22, at , 2350 Monroe St, Dearborn.

Why Go: You can go gaga for gourds at the Realtors Community Focus Foundations Third Annual PumpkinFEST. Shop the pumpkin patch and enjoy pumpkin painting, a bouncy castle for kids, carnival games, a cake walk, a bake sale and face painting. All proceeds from the event go to the Realtor Community Focus Foundation outreach programs.

Pricing: Largest pumpkins are $5; minimal charges for tickets to various attractions.
