Wayne County Hazardous Waste Disposal Day is Saturday
This Saturday, Wayne County residents will be permitted to dispose of a number of household items and chemicals for free.
Wayne County residents looking to unload some household materials had better start packing boxes. This Saturday, the Wayne County Department of Public Services is hosting a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.
The drop-off will be from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Southland Shopping Center, located at Eureka Road and Pardee in Taylor.
The event is sponsored by Wayne County. Proof of residency could be requested. Enter off of Pardee near the Target store.

The event will allow residents to dispose of items such as household paints, stains and dyes; floor care products such as wax and carpet cleaner; furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, stain removers and solvents; non-controlled pharmaceutical waste; nail polish and glue; fertilizer, pesticides and garden chemicals; antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline, propane tanks, automotive and dry cell batteries; fluorescent bulbs, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, mercury thermometers, thermostats, and elemental mercury.
People are also encouraged to donate items for electronics recycling, including computer CPUs, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards and mice; as well as cell phones, fax machines, copiers and televisions.

Not accepted at this event are: commercial and industrial waste, radioactive material, explosives, ammunition, 55 gallon drums, shock sensitive materials, household trash, refrigerators, microwaves and other appliances, tiles, yard waste, roofing shingles and concrete.
