Viewfinder: Springtime in Dearborn

Warmer weather means many Dearborners traversing the trails at UM-Dearborn's Environmental Interpretive Center and the Henry Ford Estate.

There's nothing more wonderful than Dearborn in the springtime.

Residents venture out of their homes in droves to walk to their favorite restaurants and stores. The flowers are in bloom. And the Henry Ford Estate and Environmental Interpretive Center grounds are full of the sights, sounds and smells of nature.

I took a trip through the and the woods of the estate during Sunday's 80-degree windy weather, where I met up with bicyclists and joggers, deer and cranes, all enjoying the perfect spring day. Though the trees still lacked leaves, flowers were beginning to bloom and, as I am every year when I hike those trails, I was reminded of why I love Michigan winters: they make me appreciate springtime so much more.
