Five things you need to know to start your day in Dearborn.

Ready to start your day? Here's what you need to know.

3. Did you know that only 30 percent of patients who need a bone marrow transplant have a matching donor in their families? The remaining 70 percent rely on finding a donor through the national registry. Dearborn students will be hosting a 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on campus today to help add donors.

4. Seniors are invited to a free 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. today at the with screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, bone density, diabetes, oral cancer, hearing and vision. And don't forget the at The Center on Thursday, Oct. 20 to celebrate its 10th anniversary serving Dearborn. The open house is hosted by the city's Recreation and Parks Department and will offer free admission all day to the swimming pools, gymnasiums and fitness area beginning at 5:30 a.m.

5. Have a good story to tell about Dearborn? The deadline is Thursday, Oct. 20 to submit it to the to be included in a book titled , which be released just in time for Christmas.
