Five things you need to know to start your day in Dearborn.

Ready to start your day? Here's what you need to know.

1. The weather will stay mostly sunny today, according to the National Weather Service, with highs near 82 degrees. A 30 percent chance of thunderstorms will hang overhead after 3 p.m., with storms and showers more likely later in the night.

2. If it does rain, you may want to consider taking the little ones out to a movie. Better yet, a free movie! The Dearborn Public Library is showing Gnomeo and Juliet at the at 7 p.m. The showing of the 2011 animated hit will take place in the auditorium.

3. House Democrats will be holding press conferences across the state today with local education officials to call for a restoration to K-12 funding. The first of the day will take place at 8 a.m. at in Dearborn. Dearborn Public Schools Supt. Brian Whiston, Dearborn PTA Vice President Roxanne McDonald, President of the Dearborn Federation of School Employees Roger Bartles, and Jane Mazza of the Dearborn Federation of Teachers will be in attendance, along with state Rep. George Darany (D-Dearborn).

4. More educational matters come up tonight, when the Dearborn Public Schools Board of Education holds their study session at 7 p.m. The meeting takes place in the Administrative Services Center on Audette. Board members are expected to approve the 2011-12 budget tonight.

5. In honor of Dearborn's automotive heritage, we bring you Ford Facts. Today's fact: The Ford Motor Company River Rouge Plant was built from 1918-1920, and is Ford's largest plant. By November of 1920, the assembly line at River Rouge was churning out 800 cars per day.
