Scattered thunderstorms are likely today and this evening in southeast Michigan, according to a hazardous weather statement issued early Monday morning by the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac.

Though the rain will likely fall off and on all day, the greatest chances for thunderstorms will be between 5 p.m. Monday and 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to the weather service.

The strongest storms could produce wind gusts up to 50 mph as they move east at 25 mph. The storms will also be able to produce locally heavy rainfall.
