Storms Leave Hundreds Without Power In Dearborn

More than 1,500 homes were without power in Dearborn on Monday night.

Monday evening's thunderstorms left several Dearborn residents in the dark.

According to DTE Energy, 1,451 customers in the 48124 zip code were without power as of 10 p.m. There were 233 customers without power in the 48126 zip code.

Flooding on local roads was also reported near Michigan Avenue and Evergreen, Southfield Freeway, Brady Street north of Michigan Avenue, and Greenfield Road under the railroad bridge south of Michigan Avenue.

People posting to Dearborn Patch's Facebook page were reporting outages in their neighborhoods.

Jennie Knepper Walsh wrote, "Brown out Michigan and telegraph. I hope this rain doesn't make it into the basement again."

"Oakwood is the most flooded i've ever seen it," Craig Frost wrote.

Sarah DeNardis Poupard posted, "No power on Mason and Beech!"

The Dearborn Fire Department was dispatched to The Henry Ford at 10 p.m. in response to a possible fire in a building basement.

Wendy Metros, director of media relations for The Henry Ford said the fire department was called to the museum after an employee noticed smoke from water hitting an electrical line near the powerhouse outside of the museum.

Metros said firefighters were able to investigate the call quickly and there was no danger of a fire.
