Nearly 500 Homes, Local Businesses Near Greenfield and Rotunda Without Power

Equipment trouble caused the outage at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Power was restored by Thursday morning.

UPDATE: Power to the area was restored during the early morning hours of Thursday.

Trouble with underground equipment has left 476 DTE Energy customers–some residents, as well as nearby businesses and office buildings–without power Wednesday, according to DTE Energy.

DTE's outage map shows that power went out in the area around 4 p.m. Power is expected to be restored by 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The outage is affecting homes and businesses on Greenfield Road and Rotunda, Springwells Street, Lake Village Boulevard, Lindenwood Drive, Commerce Drive, Century Drive, Mercantile Drive and connecting cul de sacs.

Dearborn resident Cheryl Kohs reported on Facebook that a nearby office building where she works on Greenfield and Rotunda lost power this afternoon as well.

Nearby , which is located off of Greenfield Road just south of the affected area, is still with power, as is Dearborn's Department of Public Works.

Equipment failure is responsible nationwide for about 15 percent of power outages whereas weather and trees are responsible for 62 percent, according to DTE information. Power grid failure accounts for 5 percent of outages.
