More Than 3,000 Without Power in East Dearborn Monday

During one of the hottest weeks of the year so far, DTE is reporting an outage with an unknown restoration time.

A power outage is affecting a large portion of east Dearborn Monday afternoon, according to DTE Energy.

An outage map shows a loss of power to more than 3,000 homes and businesses between Tireman Avenue and Ford Road, extending several blocks east and west of Miller Road.

The outage began around 2 p.m. Monday, with an expected restoration of power by 9:30 p.m. Monday night, according to DTE representative Scott Simons.

Simons said that the outage was possibly due to malfunctioning equipment.

The outage comes just one week after thousands of west Dearborn residents lost power due to . It also comes during one of the hottest weeks of 2011 to date, with heat indexes expected to hit 100 by midweek.

Several smaller outages are affecting other parts of Dearborn Monday. About 400 residents east and west of Telegraph Road between Cherry Hill and Ford Road are without power, and have been since late Sunday night. Around 550 near Greenfield Road and Warren Avenue have lost power Monday as well.
