High Winds Cause Widespread Power Outages, But Dearborn Largely Avoided
DTE reports roughly 92,000 customers woke up without power and repairs are under way.
High winds whipped through southeast Michigan overnight, causing some widespread power outages.
DTE reports nearly 92,000 customers awoke without power Sunday morning, the majority clustered in southern Oakland County and around Ann Arbor, according to the DTE Outage map.
The Dearborn area appears to be largely unaffected as of 10 a.m. Sunday, though thousands of homes and businesses in Allen Park, Detroit and Taylor have been left without power.

In Dearborn, less than 600 homes were affected—the majority of which are near the area of Warren Avenue from Schaefer to Wyoming.
Dearborn Patch readers said on Facebook that their houses creaked, swayed and groaned throughout Saturday night, and though they didn't lose power, some still had damage.

"I lost a piece of aluminum fascia from my roof's edge," commented Dearborn resident Dave Gordon. "There are some branches down but no power interruption."
"My house was built in 1941, my floors were creaking last night," added Tom Petrere. "Felt like I woke up in a Stephen King novel."
The winds peaked between 50-60 mph at around 3 a.m. and prompted the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory until 8 a.m. They have since subsided.
There are no listed times for estimated restoration. DTE crews are out making repairs, but the continued high winds are making progress difficult, according to WDIV-TV.
The forecast calls for high temperatures between 20-25 degrees with a chance for snow showers, according to the NWS. Lows are expected at around 10 degrees, and won't be much better Monday when they are expected in the mid-teens. A chance of snow showers persists.
