Festival of Trees, Tree-Lighting Ceremony Set For This Week in Dearborn

The city's annual tree-lighting ceremony and sing-along will take place Tuesday, Nov. 20.

The City of Dearborn will get residents in the holiday spirit this week with the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Sing-Along at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, planned for 6-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

The festivities are being held in conjunction with the Festival of Trees, which is a fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation. There is no admission to this holiday fundraiser for those attending the tree lighting on Nov. 20.

  • 6-6:15 p.m. - Dearborn Youth Symphony String Trio (Michael A. Guido Theater Lobby)
  • 6:15-6: 30 p.m. - Dearborn Public Schools Elementary Honors Choir (Michael A. Guido Theater Lobby)
  • 6:35-6:45 p.m. - Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with Mayor Jack O’Reilly and Honorary Assistant Fatima Jallou (outside, in the Theater Circular Drive)

Theater Program

  • 7-7:30 p.m. - Holiday movie presentation of the original “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
  • 7:30-7:40 p.m. - Dearborn Public School’s Honors Choir “Stopping By Woods On a Snowy Evening”, “Sanctus”, “No School Tomorrow (If It Snows)”
  • 7:40-8 p.m. - Christmas Sing-Along with Mayor O’Reilly and Dale Van Dorp
  • 8-9:30 p.m. - Visit with Santa in Studio A.
  • 8-9:30 p.m. Festival of the Trees Holiday Season Exhibit inside the Hubbard Ballroom (Free Admission)

The Tree-Lighting Ceremony and Sing-Along is supported by the Dearborn Lions Club, Tim Horton’s of Dearborn, Park Place Catering, Nigosian Oriental Rug Company and C&A Type and Graphics.

Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees runs Nov. 18-25, and is a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital of Michigan. Trees and other holiday items are designed and decorated by local individuals and companies and sold.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children, except following the tree-lighting on Nov. 20.

Hours are as follows:

  • Sunday, Nov. 18: 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Monday, Nov. 19: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 20: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 21: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Closed Thanksgiving
  • Friday, Nov. 23: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 24: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 25: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
