Dispatches: The Changing American Dream

Everyone has a different definition of what the American Dream really is: Becoming a citizen and getting a job. Climbing the socioeconomic ladder. Just spending your life doing what you love to do.

We at Patch are excited about the launch of a new initiative to tell those stories. Dispatches: The Changing American Dream will highlight people, ideas, organizations and initiatives centered on defining and achieving those dreams–whatever they may be.

Every day, the national media is full of stories about how American families, businesses and neighbors are adjusting to these trying times. National debates about unemployment, foreclosures, debt, religion, government and private enterprise all touch on fundamental ways in which we see ourselves and our communities.

In Dearborn, we see these stories come about every day–from a group of , to a desperate to find a job to keep his family afloat.
