Dearborn Racetrack Event Raises More than $750,000

Proceeds from the charity event at the Dearborn Conference and Event Center will be split between the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute and Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital's Center for Cardiac Care.

Their speeds were fast and their wallets were blown wide open at the “Get Your Heart Racing” event on Saturday at the Dearborn Development Center test track.

More than 100 people helped raise more than $750,000 at the inaugural event hosted by and Henry Ford Health System.

Proceeds will be split between the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute and Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital’s Center for Cardiac Care.

Those who attended had the rare opportunity to take part in a 3 ½ hour event on Ford Motor Co.’s private test track at the Dearborn Development Center. Participants had three helmeted-drive experiences with race car professionals and three solo-drive experiences.

After the track event, there was a silent auction at the , where the top item–a 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca–went for $300,000.

The fundraiser was the single largest philanthropic event for both health groups.
