Dearborn Leaders 'Think Pink' in Support of Oakwood Women's Healthcare Fundraiser

Mayor Jack O'Reilly and Chamber of Commerce President Jennifer Giering joined Oakwood officials in supporting the health care system's upcoming golf classic.

The Oakwood Women’s Healthcare Classic is turning 20 years old this year, and several Dearborn leaders are getting into the proverbial swing of things.

Sporting pink, in support of Oakwood's 20th annual Women's Healthcare Classic, are Jennifer Giering, president of the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce; Jack O'Reilly, mayor of Dearborn; Maureen D'Agostino, senior vice president, Oakwood Healthcare; and Nancy and Bob Zakar, co-chairs of the Women's Healthcare Classic.

The Women’s Healthcare Classic returns to the and the on June 11. In addition to lunch, golf, a silent auction, strolling food stations and a 20th anniversary dinner, the event will feature guest speaker Suzy Farbman, author of Godsigns: Health, Hope and Miracles, My Journey to Recovery.

The event generates funds to help fight breast cancer. It has raised about $4.7 million during its 19-year history.

Contributions help the Oakwood Foundation fund free mammograms and genetic risk assessment and/or counseling; pay for mammopads to help relieve discomfort during testing, purchase wigs for women undergoing cancer treatment and provide transportation to women undergoing treatment.
