Dearborn Police Arrest Woman Accused of Stealing Clothes from Wal-Mart

Dearborn police officers arrested a 21-year-old Detroit woman on April 5 for allegedly attempting to shoplift several items from Wal-Mart.

Acording to police reports, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the store, located at 5851 Mercury Drive, after receiving a call from the store's Loss Prevention security.

Upon arrival, officers met with security, who informed police that they observed the woman remove price tags from several items of clothing and concealing the items by wearing them under her clothes.

After exiting the store without paying for the items, the woman was confronted by store security and arrested. The woman was transported to the Dearborn Police Department and charged with third degree retail fraud. Three items of clothing totaling $46 were returned to the store, police said.

Check Fraud

On April 5, officers with the Dearborn Police Department were dispatched to the Bank of America branch at 13024 Michigan Ave. for a fraudulent check complaint.

According to police, a 52-year-old Detroit man attempted to cash a check for $992.77 from Allegiance Staffing in Fraser and was detained by the bank's assistant manager after the bank's computer flagged the account.

Upon questioning the suspect, he told police that he received the check from an acquaintance in exchange for cleaning offices in downtown Detroit.

The bank manager informed officers that the man appeared nervous and asked if he could leave the bank several times while employees attempted to verify the check.

After conducting a search on the Michigan Law Enforcement Information Network, officers arrested the man for fraud and three misdemeanor traffic warrants out of Dearborn.
