Cat-a-Palooza Continues with an Adoptable Named Amelia

The Dearborn Animal Shelter has more cats than you can shake a stick at. Take one (or two) home for a low price this summer.

The is still , and one of those is a pretty dilute tortoiseshell named Amelia.

Amelia is full grown, but young, and has a medium-length, shiny coat and a cute face. She's just one of hundreds of cats and kittens currently available for adoption from the shelter.

And through the end of August, adopters can take home two cats for the price of one at an already-discounted rate of $55 for kittens and $25 for cats.

The adoption fee for an adult cat such as Amelia is normally $80, but has been lowered to $25 to help reduce the large number of cats and kittens at the shelter. Adoption fees include a basic medical exam, behavior assessment, age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite and worm check, spay or neuter, microchip ID, travel box, cat comforter and cat care information. An optional, but recommended, combination feline AIDS and feline leukemia test (for cats 12 weeks and older) is an additional $20.

Adopters are also eligible for pet insurance from PetFirst HealthCare at an introductory price of $5 for the first month. The price includes accident and illness coverage with any veterinarian. Adopters must register their pet within 20 days of adoption by calling 866-937-PETS, or visiting www.petfirstadoption.com.
