Overview: Mati's Deli is a well-known lunchtime staple in Dearborn, serving up an array of sandwiches and soups. They keep it simple, their customers are loyal, and they've been around for more than 20 years.

Decor: It's classic style all the way at Mati's, from their old-school metal chairs to their checkerboard floor. Clean, bright and friendly, Mati's also offers outdoor and window seating.

The Food: Signature sandwiches, such as Ellen's Favorite (hot corned beef, coleslaw, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing on rye), Goodbye Charlie (Albacore tuna, tomato and cheddar cheese on rye), Prime Time (roast beef, coleslaw, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing on rye) and Brian's Wish (chicken salad, alfalfa sprouts, muenster cheese, bacon and honey mustard on a kaiser roll); all $7.60.

Mati's also offers several salads, low-calorie and low-sodium sandwiches, soups and homemade chili. Plus, all sandwiches can be customized, or built from scratch with a variety of meats, cheeses, breads and extras.

Service: During peak lunch hours, seating is minimal and lines can get long, but many guests call ahead to pick up their meals–or better yet, order online, which snags them a free brownie.

Signature Dish: The classic Reuben, and several variations of it, such as Carol's Temptation, which includes turkey, coleslaw, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing on rye bread.
