Tickets are still available for the auction. Proceeds benefit programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The Arc Dearborn will host its 34th annual Silent Auction Spring Gala at the Dearborn Inn on Friday.

The fundraiser will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. and includes appetizers, a silent and live auction. Tickets are $45 per person, $35 per person with a disability, or $80 per couple.

The Arc is a nonprofit organization providing advocacy, recreation, education, and quality programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities in the Dearborn area.

Proceeds from the fundraiser are used to pay for student programs, maintaining transportation vehicles, building maintenance upkeep, and events and outings for Arc members.

"This event is one of our major fundraisers of the year, bit we need the public's help to make it a great success," resident Sarah Poupard said. "Unfortunately the number of tickets sold is down about 100 people."

Poupard said some of this year's auction items include Kenny Cheney concert tickets, Detroit Tigers tickets, assorted themed baskets, jewelry, furniture, and restaurant gift cards.

Robert Altizer, president of the Arc's Board of Directors, said the organization has received roughly $18,000 in donations for the auction. Auction items will continue to be accepted for donation through Friday.

"It’s a great night and a fun event," Altizer said. "This fundraiser gives us the opportunity to meet with supporters and folks in the community who benefit from our programs."

Tickets for the event can be purchased by calling 313-562-1787.
