Afternoon Thunderstorms Drench Dearborn, Cause Traffic Delays

Flooding on Village Road caused traffic jams on the Southfield Freeway Monday afternoon.

Heavy rainfall from an afternoon of thunderstorms in Dearborn left parts of the city flooded Monday.

Commuters heading home from work late Monday afternoon reported flooding on Mead Street in east Dearborn, southbound Telegraph at Michigan Avenue, and near Monroe and Edison streets.

Residents also reported flooding in their homes along Hubbard, Vassar, Columbia and Cleveland streets in west Dearborn.

Click on Detroit reported that traffic in both directions on the Southfield Freeway was backed up around 5:30 p.m. due to flooding on Village Road just south of Michigan Avenue.

Traffic on the Southfield Freeway is backed up for miles, and the freeway is closed until further notice.
