Adopt a Kitten from the Dearborn Animal Shelter

The shelter is urging cat adoptions to reduce the large number of animals currently in their care.

As is the case every spring and summer, the litters of kittens just keep rolling into the .

Take Trevina, for instance–a gray and white tabby girl who is currently 12 weeks old and looking for a home. She's one of 90 kittens currently in the shelter's care.

This particular little girl is playful and loving, and enjoys a good purr. Trevina likes to cuddle and play, and would make a perfect companion.

The Dearborn Animal Shelter will be hosting its last day of its 1 "plus" 1 = 2 event next Saturday, July 23. For the adoption fee of one kitten, you can take two home, only at the Pet Supplies Plus Livonia store, located at 29493 W. Seven Mile Road. The event runs from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Normal adoptions at the shelter will also continue all week.

The adoption fee for a kitten such as Trevina is $55. Adoption fees include a basic medical exam, behavior assessment, age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite and worm check, spay or neuter, microchip ID, travel box, cat comforter and cat care information. An optional, but recommended, combination feline AIDS and feline leukemia test (for cats 12 weeks and older) is an additional $20.

Adopters are also eligible for pet insurance from PetFirst HealthCare at an introductory price of $5 for the first month. The price includes accident and illness coverage with any veterinarian. Adopters must register their pet within 20 days of adoption by calling 866-937-PETS, or visiting www.petfirstadoption.com.
