A Red, Hot and Blue Memorial Day for Dearborn

Hundreds of residents flank the sidewalks of Michigan Avenue in 90-degree heat on Monday to see the 87th annual Memorial Day Parade.

A cloudless sky and temperatures reaching up toward 90 degrees on Monday morning meant a beautiful–but hot–Memorial Day parade for Dearborn.

The parade began to mosey down Michigan Avenue just after 10 a.m. as crowds watched from the sidewalk and cheered. Participants in the parade ranged from 5-year-old Cub Scouts to World War II veterans. Parade participants included representatives from all four Dearborn high schools, the Dearborn Kiwanis and Exchange Clubs, the Dearborn Soccer Club, the Maltese American and Lebanese American organizations and many more groups looking to show their support for veterans and soldiers.
