Drama in the D

The month of November is absolute nirvana for Dearborn-area playgoers with three plays and three musicals set to hit the stage over the next few weeks. If you enjoy the theater, you're going to love November with so much local talent on display.
First up is Neil Simon's classic comedy, Plaza Suite, staged by the Ghost Light Players, formerly the Dearborn Heights Civic Theatre. The show runs Nov. 8, 9, 15, and 16. All four performances  will be held at the Henry Ford Centennial Library Theatre. Tickets are $15 and shows start at 8 p.m.
The three-act play all takes place in suite 719 of New York's Plaza Hotel. In typical Neil Simon fashion, the play reveals much about human nature, with often humorous results.
Directed by Marc Walentowicz and Patrick Coon, Plaza Suite features Valerie Haas, Phil Booth, Mike Kinnell, Andrea McGrath, Jeff Flannery, Joelle Schade, Margaret Kinnell, Sean Randolph, Barret Kaltz and Emily Gedert.
Also going up this month are three high school productions. Dearborn High will perform "And Then There Were None," Crestwood High will stage "The Wizard of Oz," and Divine Child High feature "The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged)." And Edsel Ford High will perform "Peter Pan" in December.
Players Guild of Dearborn will stage "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" for four weekends starting Nov. 8th. Check back next week for more information on these local productions and my review of "Plaza Suite."
