Zaatar W Zeit Newest Middle Eastern Bakery Opens in Dearborn

The new bakery is located at 10303 West Warren Ave. It is open seven days a week.

A new place for Middle Eastern desserts, appetizers and pies is open for business on Warren Avenue in Dearborn.

Zaatar W Zeit opened three weeks ago at 10303 West Warren Ave., across from the CVS pharmacy.

The bakery serves spinach and meat pies, jelly pies, pepperoni, broccoli, and spinach rolls, chocolate rolls, Lebanese sausages (makanek), and Sambousek (a fried stuffed pastry), among other items.

The bakery is operated by Dearborn resident Hani Zbib and his family.

"We've been in America for 30 years, and we decided it was time to go back to our roots," Zbib said.

The family says though there are an abundance of Middle Eastern bakeries in Dearborn, they look forward to the competition.

"All of our items are handmade right here in the store and baked in a brick oven," Zbib said. "The feedback we've received so far has been positive."

He said that Middle Eastern food is highly popular in Dearborn, as well as Canada, Ohio, Chicago, and other parts of the Great Lakes.

"We have customers from all over the area," Zbib said. "We're a one-stop shop for Middle Eastern groceries."

Zaatar W Zeit is open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Sunday. For more information, call 313-945-1200, or visit the bakery's Facebook page online.
