Jamie Garrison wanted to provide a peaceful, quiet place to practice yoga.
She opened Yoga Shala and Wellness Center in Dearborn Heights last month.
Garrison recently submitted information about the business through the Small Business Spotlight.
Here are her answers.
What does your business offer?
We offer a full schedule of yoga classes, healing services (Reiki and Reflexology), meditation session and meetings/workshops related to holistic & natural living.
What's your most popular product or service?
Our yoga classes are most popular.
What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?
There are not many natural pregnancy/birth related resources in the area. At Yoga Shala, we host monthly Homebirth circles and monthly ICAN (international cesarean awareness network) meeting.
When was the business founded?
How did your business come to be?
The vision behind Yoga Shala slowly evolved over time. After teaching yoga at universities and rec centers I learned that there was a need for another peaceful, quiet place to practice yoga. Many people have expressed a desire to practice yoga more often and that is often difficult to accomplish at home. So after doing some research I found a great location to open a "yoga home" if you will, for our community.
Why did you choose the area you did?
Yoga Shala and Wellness Center is the first yoga studio in Dearborn Heights. We are located in a central area, making yoga more accessible to local residents.
