Which Dearborn Businesses Should We Write About on Patch?

Small Business Saturday is Nov. 24—so tell us which places we can't pass up in our coverage.

Patch is a place where users decide what's important to their community, so why should we tell you which local businesses to pay attention to?

Instead, you tell us.

Small Business Saturday is Nov. 24, and in honor of the celebration of shopping small, we want you to spend the week deciding which businesses should be featured in Dearborn Patch this holiday season.

Here's how:

  • Leave a comment on this article telling us which business (or businesses) you think deserve a feature story in Dearborn Patch.
  • Post a photo of something awesome you bought (dinner, an accessory, a massage gift certificate) from a Dearborn business. Do that by clicking the "Upload Photos and Videos" button.
  • Review your favorite businesses in our Patch Places directory.

You have until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 24 to make your voice heard. Restaurants, services, shops—they're all fair game, as long as they're local.

When all is said and done, we'll take the top 5 vote-getters, dig a little deeper and feature one per week every Sunday in December.

Which are your favorite Dearborn small businesses? I've always been a big fan of Sophia's Giftique, Retro Image and Green Brain Comics.

Call me partial, but I have to give a nod to Gentlemen First Barbershop for what they have done with a tiny little building in a small amount of time. We try to be more than just a quick cut and run stop. A vibrant barbershop can be a hub of local activity. Life long residents, we started in Dearborn and are thrilled to be back. We work very hard not just promoting our own business, but all Dearborn business, working hard to help build the synergy needed for a vibrant, downtown area. Good luck to ALL Dearborn businesses!

Hi Dearborn Patch, I was hoping to see articles about Michigan s own Biggby coffee expansion to our area, with another two stores coming soon to our area,. These location will be owned and operated by our residents.

Dearborn Patch-You cannot pass up Dearborn Collision. It is too hard in this day and age to find a mechanic that can also repair your car after an accident as well. I am reading about haircuts and coffee but think about good, trustworthy mechanics and the cost of fixing or repairing you car.Unfortunately I fortunately had to visit them 3 times in one month. This place is not only family owned, they treat you like family. I cannot say enough about Jamie, John, Sasho and Tommy and all the entire staff. They have helped me with everything from fixing my rearview mirror to entirely reconstructing the front end of the car after my friend wrecked it to getting me there and getting my tire fixed and went so far as to make sure I also had a good spare and always at a more than reasonable price. It is so rare to find a mechanic that knows what they are doing and won't take advantage of you but to find a company that treats you like family, offers contests and prizes and you know when they are fixing your car that they know what they are doing with the finest staff and equipment and you are not paying or being charged for anything you do not need. How often do you find this anywhere especially this day and age. I would not take my car anywhere else ever and I refer anyone I know to them.

I heard about the one on Ford Road, and I'll be contacting Maher soon (regardless of whether Biggby wins this "competition"). Thanks, Killoud!

Oh and if you write about a small business you can't forget the family owned, Alcamo's. I've been going here for years. But you also have to include Dearborn Sausage. The best ham's come from there!! And then there is Lili's, and Jim's Place Family Dining. Man, I can go on and on...looks like I shop small businesses in Dearborn often. :)

Srinergy is a "new " company in Dearborn with a unique program for solar power. Energy cost savings (Electricity costs cut by 20% to 100%) Protect the environment Reduce carbon footprint And, much more! And the best thing is that the company will finance everyting, no cost up front, you pay by using portions of the savings..It's a "no brainer"

The LaFontaine Automotive Group has not only been a staple in the Automotive world, but a staple in Dearborn for over 30 years. They are growing in a time when no one thought any business could! The LaFontaine Automotive Group is in the process of building two new dealerships in Michigan, a VW Dealership in Dearborn and a Ford dealership in Lansing. They are responsible for employing a tremendous amount of jobs in the state of Michigan alone and in the process of hiring. LaFontaine has raised $450,000 during the past three years for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Foundation and has given back to the community with over a half a million dollars. This Automotive company is standing against the odds and couldn't have created more opportunity for Michigan, and Dearborn. Especially with the $9.95 oil and filter change they offer why would you go anywhere else?

If you're thinking of starting a business or already have one, then you'd be well served by visiting PostNet on Ford Road near Outer Drive. Lynne Killion and her crew are top notch...they're friendly, knowledgeable, and have a wide variety of promotional products that will make any business get noticed. If you think PostNet is only for copying and mailing, then you haven't visited PostNet lately.

McNichols Electric on Grindley Park! Fast, friendly, great service on small appliances! They can fix anything!
Donna Hay November 23, 2012 at 01:58 PM
Concepts in Confection right around the corner from McNichols Electric on Harvard, fantastic cakes, cupcakes, cookies and their homemade soup is a must!!

The Material Girls fabric/ sewing shop (1850 Grindley Park) is my favorite! The staff is friendly and helpful, but leave you alone if you just want to look. Another favorite is Rodegher's Used Books on Michigan Ave. Could spend the day, and my entire paycheck, at either place.

Retro Image! If you want to do a story on the strangest business in Dearborn I would suggest Zerry Furniture. What is the story on that place?

The Beef Carver near Outer Drive on Michigan ave has the best hash on Tuesdays, and fast good tasting meals. They have been there forever, long ago as the Beef Eater. Good eating places last for a reason, quality and service, and for those reasons the Beef Carver will be around for years to come.
