Seven years ago, Ali and Mona Hassan opened up Salon 360, which was an 800 square-foot beauty parlor located in West Dearborn. On Monday, the couple had their grand opening of the new and improved 3500 square-foot Salon 360 about a mile down from their previous location.
“It is a one-stop shop, hence the name 360. We were in a much smaller place and didn’t have as many services. Mona’s been doing hair for a long time and her clients just love her, and she wanted to give them more,” said physician and owner Ali Hassan.
The new salon added services that include tanning, Botox, Juvederm treatments, nails, facials and skincare. There to help celebrate the grand opening was Mayor John B. O’Reilly, members from the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce as well as numerous customers taking advantage of the one-day only specials.
Upon entrance is a circular reception area covered in natural stone and topped with granite countertops. Complimentary sushi was served by two chefs along with hors d'œuvre’s distributed throughout the evening. The new salon is
decorated lavishly with Swarovski crystal chandeliers and black furniture, accented with gold walls.
There are eight work stations, four lay-down tanning beds and one stand-up. A makeup stage is set-up to the right of the entry way, and a nail spa is located just behind the reception area. The nail spa exudes a soothing ambiance with its earth-tone décor and the sound of a relaxing stone waterfall.
Owner Mona Hassan began working in the cosmetology field right out of high school. She said she worked as a shampoo girl, and that opening up her newest salon has been a life-long dream. Mona said a trip to Vegas helped inspire her salon’s new high-end look.
“From the walls to the floors to the lighting, it was all me. I love chandeliers and a lot of bling. I just love the elegant feel.”
Although the salon now has luxurious furnishings, Mona says that the prices have not changed and are very affordable. The salon also includes student discounts, free haircuts for the locks of love cancer charity, Toys for Tots drives and more.
Sonia Khaled has had 10 years of skin care experience and looks forward to working with the new salon and the exclusive products.
“The products that I use are therapeutic and the ingredients are made from seaweed and they’re organic.” Khaled said. “We cater to all the skin-types: first I analyze the skin and put together a facial. I follow up a regime at home using the products, that way clients are not confused.”
The pampering facials consist of four layers of skin care products that rejuvenate your skin and are used as anti-agers. First, the client’s face is cleansed of oils and/or make-up. Second, toner is sprayed upon the cheekbones, under the chin area and around the forehead. Third, there will be a cooling sensation as a day protection cream is lightly massaged and on the client’s face and hands as part of a package. Lastly, a formula made of seaweed as a main ingredient sets on the skin for ten minutes as it hardens into a rubber-like mask. Once removed, the client’s skin will feel fresh and hydrated.
The salon has six staff members, all of whom make the working environment enjoyable and friendly, according to Ali.
“It’s a very fun place where they’re (the staff) all really like family. We welcome new ideas and a lot of employees come up and suggest things, and we analyze it and if we like it, we make it happen.”
Mona says that she has always loved to transform people and make them feel good about themselves.
“I’d love for people to come in, especially brides, and feel special. My husband helps with the internal aspect of beauty, while I do the work externally.”
