Mutt Strut Participants–Dogs and Humans–Will Get Goodies from West Dearborn Merchants

is working to make the even more fun for walkers, their dogs–and local businesses.

For several years, the west downtown Dearborn business has taken advantage of the walk route of the annual shelter fundraiser event, which brings hundreds of Mutt Strut participants and their pooches right past their door on Garrison Street. Each year, they hand out doggie treat bags with a coupon for their business attached.

Mary Ray, owner of Campbells, explained that for this year's Mutt Strut–which takes place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at –she encouraged other local businesses to do the same.

"The walkers love to receive this little bags," said Ray. "This year I got the idea to enlist other west Dearborn business to join us in handing out treats to the walkers (either for themselves or their pets). The goal was to make the Mutt Strutt a more festive event for the strutters, while at the same time promoting downtown west Dearborn businesses who support the animal shelter."
